3 Things That Will Make Your Stay At Broken Bow More Enjoyable

The Broken Bow area of Oklahoma is one of the prettier parts of the state, with Broken Bow Lake and the Mountain Fork River providing a picturesque backdrop for hikes and picnics. Renting a cabin near the lake is what most people do when they want to stay overnight in the area. Renting a cabin is not exactly like renting a hotel room, and there are three things you can do to make your stay more enjoyable.

Cabin Rental Companies Aren't Kidding About Not Using GPS

Not getting lost on the way there ranks pretty high on the scale of "things to do in order to enjoy your vacation." Most of the cabins around the Broken Bow area don't have actual physical addresses and don't have reliable coordinates in GPS systems. Most cabin companies will tell you not to rely on mapping apps or GPS; if the company that owns the cabin you rent tells you to print out written directions, listen to them and print the directions out. While Broken Bow Lake and the surrounding areas aren't exactly remote and isolated, they're still not completely on the map, literally speaking.

You Can Go Into Town for Food, but Bring at Least Snacks

Most cabin developments are scattered not only on the shores of Broken Bow Lake but also around the small community of Hochatown, Oklahoma. The cabins themselves don't have much in the way of food or drink, often having nothing but tap water. You'll more than likely have to provide your own food. If you forget to bring food with you, that's not really a problem as you can head into town for meals. However, try to pick up snacks to bring back with you to the cabins even if you plan to eat all your meals in town; if you get hungry in the middle of the night, there won't be anything open even in town.

Treat the Cabins as You Would a Trail

Hikers know the rule about bringing out what you brought in, and the same essentially goes for these cabins. Don't leave trash scattered around; you won't necessarily have to take your trash with you when you leave, but you should leave it in available trashcans, not on a table or under a pile of leaves. If you were smoking outside, make sure there are no cigarette butts on the ground. And make sure you take all your toiletries and leftover food with you when you go. You'll actually feel more relaxed when you do this because you know you won't find an extra bill for cleaning up waiting for you in the mail.

Renting a Broken Bow cabin can be a relaxing vacation. You do need to be prepared, though, and pay attention to what the cabin rental companies tell you about the area.
