Your Solo Fishing Adventure
Making sure that you have the proper gear for your solo fishing adventure will increase the odds that you will have a great time and catch many fish species. Use the following criteria to help you prepare for a saltwater or freshwater trip.
Your Comfort Level
Fishing alone can bring on many more challenges than you are accustomed to. You will want to be trained to target and catch the fish species you have in mind, plus ensure that you remain safe throughout your adventure. Look into some guided fishing adventures that involve signing up for a charter. During a small group charter that provides separate sleeping quarters, you will be equipped with the privacy that you desire, but will still be able to engage with the other travelers and the fishing crew who are aboard the boat.
If you are more of a thrill seeker, you may want to consider trekking out into the woods and finding somewhere to set up camp. Many popular camping destinations feature fully-stocked lakes and ponds that can support a fishing adventure.
First, check out the bodies of water that are located near an area where you would like to camp. Then, decide how you will travel to this destination. If you will be driving your own vehicle, prepare a list of essentials and pack the gear you will need during your travels. Read up on the types of fish that are located within the region you will be visiting. Purchase tackle and gear that will assist you in catching these fish species.
Extra Precautions
Before embarking on a fishing adventure, take some precautions that will instill safety throughout your trip. Let your family know where you will be heading during your travels. Bring your phone and a charger along with you. Keep these items in a waterproof fishing bag that you will be using during each active fishing stint.
Consider the use of waders. Although you may not plan on getting wet while you are fishing, marshy land or the strength of a fish that you have caught could result in you winding up in deep water. Waders will help you maintain your traction if you wind up in deeper water than intended. If you will be attempting to catch some large fish species, bring a net along with you on your trip. A net may help you retrieve large, aggressive fish species.
